Things I Carry: The Paper Studio Photo Keeper

Creating collages is a casual passion of mine.

Ever since I had a girls’ night with my high school gal pals and made a vision board, I fell in love with creating photo collages. Every year I look forward to browsing through magazines, cutting images, and pasting them together to create a piece of art (and vision for the future).

However it’s a messy process and that’s where my Photo Keeper comes in handy.

Introduction to The Paper Studio Photo Keeper

In today’s The Things I Carry post, we’ll discuss my thoughts on the photo keeper after I purchased it at Michaels.

What I love about The Paper Studio Photo Keeper

  • The 6 Photo Cases- It has 6 photo cases to store magazine clippings, images, and quotes. Technically they are meant to hold 4 inch x 6 inch photos, but since I use this for vision boards, I keep cut pieces of paper in each container.

  • The Storage Case- Since the 6 photo cases go inside the main case so perfectly, I don’t have to worry about accidentally losing any of them. I’m very forgetful and tend to lose things, so being able to have all my smaller cases get stored in a big one really helps.

  • It’s Plastic- This means it’s lightweight and can handle a couple of drops of water. Since I own fish and store this close to my aquarium, I don’t have to worry about any of my magazine clippings getting wet.

What doesn’t work about The Paper Studio Photo Keeper

  • I can’t find it anywhere online- If I want to recommend this product to anyone, I have to look for alternatives. Since I love this photo keeper, the chances of finding one exactly like this one I think are slim.

  • It’s Expensive- At $16.99, this The Paper Studio Photo Keeper is pretty pricy. This is especially true if you plan on keeping multiple photo keepers to keep all your magazine clippings separated by themes or colors.

Other thoughts about The Paper Studio Photo Keeper

When I first got my fish, I didn’t realize that keeping all my vision board supplies underneath my aquarium would cause any issues. However when it came time to make holiday cards, I found that a lot of my larger magazine clippings that I kept in manilla folders and regular folders had a lot of water damage.

Meanwhile, my smaller clippings that I kept in my photo keeper were pristine. Ever since I’ve moved the majority of my vision board supplies elsewhere, but I’ve appreciated my impulse purchase of the photo keeper for keeping my clippings safe.

Accessories and/or alternatives to The Paper Studio Photo Keeper

  • Iris Craft Keeper 4”x6” 2 Pack is the most similar product I could find to The Paper Studio Photo Keeper. I believe if you are interested in creating vision boards and collages, this is a “must have” in your craft room.

  • Novelinks Transparent 4”x6” Storage Boxes is a large case with 16 smaller photo keepers within it. It comes in clear, cool tones, warm tones, and multi-color. Admittedly if I were to make another purchase, I would go for this one.

Would I recommend The Paper Studio Photo Keeper?

I definitely recommend The Paper Studio Photo Keeper or any kind of photo keeping storage container. This has been a time-saver for me. Whenever I work on any of my collages, I can go through magazines and cut what I need for my current piece of art and cut pieces that I’d like to use in the future. This allows ‘future me’ to have an easier time finding what I need when I need to make cards, vision boards, or random collages.

I also think these containers could be used to store other craft supplies such as washi tape, stickers, stamps, and beads. Though I’ve honestly never used it for any of those purposes, so I may be wrong about that.

What do you use to store your supplies?

Since I’ve been focusing on decluttering and cleaning up my space, I’ve been keeping my eye out for storage bins and containers to store what I decide to keep. This means that if you have any recommendations for storage containers, feel free to comment below or tweet at me your recommendations.
